This is Stoates' granary-type flour. Made from wheat flour blended with malted wheat flakes, rye flour and malt flour. Bread and rolls baked from this flour acquire a distinctive malty flavour with a moist and grainy texture. The crops receive no artificial fertilisers, herbicides, insecticides or pesticides.
About Stoate & Sons
Brothers William and Thomas Stoate started the family flour milling business in 1832 after taking on the lease of a mill at Watchet in Somerset. Over 180 years later, now in its fifth generation, Stoate and Sons is based at Cann Mills near Shaftebury in Dorset. The organic, stoneground flour they produce is a world apart from the stuff you find on your supermarket shelf. They supply their high quality flour to bakery and customers in the West Country and, now, beyond. The growth in popularity for traditionally produced artisan breads and the increased desire towards home baking has helped this authentic flour milling legacy to continue along its path.
Their grain comes from local, organic farms who, like themselves, are certified by The Soil Association. This ensures that the authenticity and traceability of the seed is maintained from the moment it is planted to the day it leaves the mill as flour.
